Anna, I have been following this Bill and am disheartened and dismayed by more State control over the family. this will do nothing to help children and it is a one size fits ll approach and will result in more indoctrination rather than eduction. Once again, we see the State interfering in the family and that is dangerous. Baroness Claire Fox has also spoken to about this but, sadly, as the very well written article says, the voices calling this out are being ignored. Everyone would sign the petition (which I have) whether one has children or not as our children need protecting by each and every one of us. They are not the property of the state. Thank you for posting and bringing this to more people’s attention. To me, it is one of the most important Bills as it will change everything for our children and for their parents.
Yes, Denise, that's precisely it. The Bill is all about indoctrination and not about education. And the power of parents will be eroded by the Bill. It truly is awful. So far, though, as would be expected, the government seem blind to people's opposing viewpoints. I suppose the hope is that there would be a tipping point in that the more people who sign petitions, raise concerns and object in other ways, the more chance there is they'll listen.
Let us hope that is the case but, so far, this government are ignoring all of our petitions. I am sorry to say their arrogance knows no bounds and they appear to have forgotten they are there to enact the will of the British people. I have post concussion syndrome so my writing isn't always as I want it and it's why I struggle to put out longer form posts as regularly as I'd like to. But we're strong, right, and we'll do what we can anyway! 💪
